Notice is provided on July 17, 2026, that the Nunavik Marine Region Wildlife Board (“NMRWB”) and the Eeyou Marine Region Wildlife Board (“EMRWB”) will be conducting a Joint Written Public Hearing over a period of four (4) weeks to consider the approval of the proposed designation of the Short-billed dowitcher and the Snowy owl as “Threatened” species, under the federal Species at Risk Act (SARA).
This written hearing provides an opportunity for parties to review and comment on the suggested listing from Environment and Climate Change Canada. The NMRWB and EMRWB will consider any information or comments that parties deem relevant.

July 17, 2026: Hearing launches.
July 24, 2026: Deadline to provide information to the hearing registry and to apply for party status.
August 14, 2026: Deadline for final submissions.
